Banana Paratha Recipe - How To Make Banana Paratha

Banana Paratha is basically a scrumptious street food from Delhi, India. It is one of the famous delicacies from the North Indian cuisine. It is a sweet dish made with ripened banana, jaggery and cardamom.

Here, you don’t stuff anything into the dough, as in other types of parathas. Instead, you mix up the ingredients along with the dough itself.People of North India,especially Delhi, love it for its authentic taste and aroma.

It gives a new tingling feel to our tongue, as we all are used to the taste of spicy aloo paratha and other stuffed parathas. It is enriched with the flavor of ripened banana, jaggery, cardamom and ghee. It is liked by the people of all age groups and it is also very easy to prepare.

Ingredients To Make Banana Paratha Recipe

 1 Banana (big size chopped)
 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
 ½ cup Jaggery (powdered)
 ½ tsp Cardamom or Elaichi Powder
 1 pinch Salt
 2 tbsp Ghee

How To Make Banana Paratha Recipe

Initial Preparation To Make Banana Paratha Recipe

To Make Banana Paratha, take a ripe banana and chop it into fine pieces and keep it aside.

Take a broad pan and place it on the stove. Switch it on and keep it in low flame.

Add the chopped banana, measured quantity of jaggery, cardamom, salt with a little water. Mix it well and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Keep stirring every now and then for a few minutes until it turns aromatic.

Switch off the stove and transfer this mixture into a clean dry bowl. Now add the whole wheat flour and knead it well to make a smooth dough by adding enough water. Close it with a damp cloth and keep aside for a while.

Make small equal sized balls out of this dough by making portions and flatten all the balls and keep it aside.

Ensure that all looks like even rotis.

To make Banana Paratha, place an Iron or non-stick tawa in the stove and heat it in medium flame.

Smear a spoon of ghee, and put a flattened dough and cook it till the raw smell goes.

Let it cook until you get small dots all over and once you get a light brown colour, flip it off to the other side and cook it well and tip in a little more ghee.

Take the banana paratha out when both the sides are brown and when you get a nice aroma out of it.

Similarly, cook all the parathas.
