 1 tbsp Gram Flour
 2 tsp Carom Seeds
 2 tsp Ghee

 2 tbsp Ghee
 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
 2 pinches Asafoetida
 2 Nos Dried Red Chillies
 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
 1 tsp Coriander Powder
 ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
 1 tsp Curry Leaves
 1 tbsp Coriander leaves

To make dal dokli recipe, take two cups of tuvar dhal in a vessel and pour in four cups of water and place it inside a cooker and pressure cook for three whistles approximately. When it cools down, just open up the lid and ensure that the dhal is mushy and keep it aside.

Take a bowl and add a cup of wheat flour and one tablespoon of gram flour to it.

Tip in two teaspoons of carom seeds along with the required salt.

Splash in a little water and start kneading the dough by adding a little ghee.

Knead for a minute or two until it becomes soft and close it with a cloth for twenty minutes approximately.

After some time, take out the cloth and knead it one again to make it still more soft.

Make two or three tepla out of the dough using a chakla(traditional roti maker) and cut them into strips of two inches size.

Cut them in the shape of diamonds and make strips out of the whole tepla.

Heat a pan in the stove and pour in two cups of water.

When it comes to a boil, drop in the tepla strips one by one gently into the water.

Let it get cooked for some time and keep stirring them every now and then using a slotted spoon, so that they do not stick with each other.

Let them boil till the roti strips pop up to the top.

When all the strips get cooked and pops up, take it out with the slotted spoon and place it over a plate and keep aside.

Heat the pan again and pour two tablespoons of ghee in it.

When it starts melting, tip in some cumin seeds, two dried red chilies followed by a pinch of asafoetida.

Finally, toss over some fresh curry leaves and let them sizzle.

Now add in two chopped tomatoes and stir in.

When it softens, blend in a teaspoon of red chili powder and coriander powder each.

Subsequently, tip in half a teaspoon of haldi/turmeric powder along with the required salt.

Splash in a little water and let it cook for five minutes approximately.

When it comes to a boil, tip in the semi cooked tepla strips into the dhal and let it boil for some time in low flame.

When you get the desired consistency, garnish the dal dokri with some freshly chopped coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
