 1 Unripe Banana (big size)
 200 ml Coconut Oil
 1 pinch Salt
 2 pinches Black Salt

How To Make Banana Chips Recipe

Preliminary Preparation To Make Banana Chips

Wash and peel off the skin from the banana and using a slicer, just slice it into thin pieces and keep it over a damp white muslin cloth.

Place a 'kadai' in the stove and pour 200 ml of coconut oil in it and keep it in high flame.

When the oil is heated, just adjust the flame into medium mode and drop a portion banana slices into the kadai gently.

Let it fry for a minute or two.

Use a 'jarini' (an exclusive ladle with circular pores used in Tamil Nadu for frying}) and gently stir the banana slices now and then.

After two minutes, just topple them around to get fried on the other side too.

By this time, the chips would have become golden colour and crispy.

Similarly, prepare the remaining slices and keep it on a plate over a paper towel to absorb excess oil from them.

Switch off the stove.

When the chips are done, just sprinkle a pinch of salt and smear a few pinches of grounded pepper powder over it and serve it with a cup of filter coffee, for an evening snack.

Store the remaining banana chips in an air tight container.

Tips To Follow To Make Banana Chips Recipe : 

  • Always choose big sized bananas as you will get big sliced chips which are good and attractive to look at.
  • Just ensure that you put the banana slices into the oil at right temperature. If the temperature is too high, lower the flame for a few minutes and vice versa.

  • Make it a point to fry the slices immediately as soon as it is sliced, in order to prevent them from turning dark.

  • Instead of pepper powder, you can also use red chilli powder or if you still need some variation, you can sprinkle a little garam masala (a popular spicy masala you get in India) to enhance the flavour.
