Amla juice is a nutritious Desi drink from India, a super food made of Amla also called as Amlaki or the Indian Gooseberry, that gives you instant energy and refreshment. In the North, people usually drink Amla juice with jeera powder, jaljeera or mint. The scientific name of Amla is Phyllanthus Emblica and it belongs to the family of Phyllanthaceae and Plantae kingdom and originally native to India. Ingredients Required To Make Amla Juice Recipe

 5 Nos Of Amla (big size)
 2 tsp Sugar
 2 Cups Of Water
 1 Pinch Of Salt
 ½ Cup Of Ice Cubes
 4 Mint Leaves

How To Make Amla Juice Recipe

Wash the gooseberries and drop them into a vessel with two cups of water.

Boil the gooseberry for five to eight minutes approximately.

When it cools down, just take out the seeds from the Amla and drop them in a blender with the water.

Blend them for a minute or two and get the juicy extract out of it.

Strain it completely using a strainer and tip in two teaspoons of sugar along with a pinch of salt and stir in for a while.

When the sugar gets dissolved, just transfer the juice into two serving glasses and drop in two or three ice cubes in each glass and pour in the juice. Top it up with tiny bits of fresh mint leaves and serve chill on a hot summer day.

Tips and Tricks To Make Amla Juice Recipe

  • This version of amla juice will taste similar to that of a lemonade and there are some other versions of making it too.
  • You can even add jaggery instead of sugar and it just gives a slight dark essence but tastes awesome.
  • Adding salt is optional and always rock salt is suggested to make citrus juices as it gives a zing to the juice.
  • Another way to zest up your Amla Juice is that you can add a pinch of chaat powder or Jaljeera to it.
  • If you plan to take it everyday, just one or half a cup is more than enough.
  • We boil the Amla just to balance the sour and astringent taste but you can even make it raw and it depends on your choice and preference.
  • And while boiling, do not over boil as it may lose all the essential nutrients and use the same water (in which you boiled) to make the juice.
